The 64-year-old Mr. Carson, who leads the GOP field alongside real estate mogul Donald Trump, also said he isn’t responsible for the accuracy of some details in his 1990 autobiography. Mr. Carson blamed his co-author for apparent inaccuracies in one of the anecdotes in question, which focused on a Yale psychology class, including the name of the course.
“You know, when you write a book with a co-writer and you say that there was a class, a lot of time they’ll put a number or something just to give it more meat,” Mr. Carson said on ABC. “You know, obviously, decades later, I’m not going to remember the course number.”
The co-author, Cecil Murphey, “has chosen to decline interviews about Dr. Carson,” his assistant, Twila Belk, said Friday. Ms. Belk and Mr. Murphey didn’t respond to messages Sunday.
