Re: Beginning of the End?

Also, I don't subscribe to the notion that Marco Rubio is of above average intelligence when he says things like he's going to quit the senate because it 'frustrates him'. Aside from the fact that statement makes him seem . . . How can I put this nicely . . . Palinesque. It also doesn't bode well for someone seeking the presidency who will have to try to work with the legislative branch

If you have a chance, check out this Charlie Rose interview with Rubio. I think the link below may be the televised version of it. The version of the interview I heard was on C-Span radio back in May of this year and was about an hour. I was driving back from D.C. that day and listened to it, and as I said before, I don't agree with everything the guy has to say, but a fair evaluation of Rubio shows that he does have a really good grasp of the issues facing the nation. And Rose wasn't tossing softballs at him either.

That interview piqued my interest to the Rubio. In a field full of bombastic hucksters, and passerbys he, if nothing else, has some ground to stand on when it comes to think through issues and having something more to say than "Make America Great Again".

So to compare Rubio to Sarah Palin would be to compare Apples and Wallpaper.

I think you're going to see a lot of different United States of America over the next three, four, or eight years. - President Donald J. Trump

Dammit!
You're frustrating me!
I quit!

I read about Rubio's positions: http://www.thepoliticalguide.com/Profiles/Senate/Florida/Marco_Rubio/Views/

I think I'll go out and shop for some fashionable wall coverings.

Re: Beginning of the End?

Despite all the hype, I don't think that this election will be a whole lot different than 2012 was. The ultra conservatives trotted out one flavor of the week after another, and when they all crashed and burned, Romney was left standing.

This year the guy left standing will likely be Rubio or Bush

Looks like the Trump act may be wearing thin.

Re: Beginning of the End?

Ok let's suppose Rubio is the nominee  and carries the flag for the R-Tribe.  Is that because he has such swell leadership quailites and vision for America, or is because the other wannabes in the tribe suck so bad and he gets the nomination by default?

That's how every presidential candidate gets the nomination, at least in the past 25 years.  There really hasn't been a truly good candidate on either side.  I like Carson, but he says some nutty things that I really think he's just saying to appease the ultra-right wingers, I know he's smarter than that (he's gotta be).  Hillary also, she's a horrible candidate, but as long as something truly catastrophic doesn't come out to doom her campaign, she'll get the nomination only because the only other people who are running against her are a guy who identifies as a socialist and has wacky spending and taxation ideas, and a guy who screwed up Maryland as their governor.  Every staunch democrat that I know says that they will reluctantly vote for Hillary Clinton.

If Rubio wins, it is because he amassed the most votes and delegates during the Primary process.
Whether that process judges who has the best ideas, the best one liners, or the best hair is up to the republican voters.
The process is only as good as the people decide to make it.
