PA. ATTORNEY GENERAL KATHLEEN KANE TO SURRENDER TODAY
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane will surrender to authorities in Montgomery County today.
She is expected to be arraigned on charges including conspiracy and perjury. Her lawyer says Kane intends to plead not guilty.
Prosecutors say Kane will appear today via video from the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, where she's scheduled for processing. She's to report to detectives in Norristown at 1:30 p.m.
The arraignment is at 2 p.m. in Collegeville, about seven miles away.
The 49-year-old Democrat is accused of violating grand jury secrecy laws and lying about her actions under oath.
"Attorney General Kane conspired with no one," attorney Gerald L. Shargel said. "At no time did she believe that she was asking or directing anyone to do anything improper or unlawful. In explaining her conduct to the grand jury she uttered no lie."
Montgomery County Prosecutor Risa Vetri Ferman says Kane was trying to embarrass a former state prosecutor she thought made her look bad.
Shortly after the charges were announced on Thursday, Governor Tom Wolf called on Kane to step down.
"I am calling on her to step aside, step down as attorney general, because I think she cannot do what she has to do as the top law enforcement officer in Pennsylvania while she's facing these serious charges," Wolf said.
Kane said in a statement that a resignation would be an admission of guilt and she's not guilty. She says the attorney general's office will continue fulfilling its mission to serve residents.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer politician /sarc.
Her vindictiveness is exceeded only by Lady MacBeth and Queen Jezebel.

Well, if she's guilty then stick it to her. In the meantime, I agree with the governor's position in asking her to pack it in.

Personally I don't think Kane was well suited to the job she had either credential-wise or personality-wise (but THAT has not stopped a LOT of people in the political spectrum ). I do, however, believe the way the "porn gate" was handled by her put a big "bullseye" on her back and we are seeing what is happening to her as payback.
PA Politics has been full of corruption for years and what people have gotten away with (and many not I might add) staggers the imagination. This in truth is peanuts in comparison.

I don't think it's fair to call for her resignation.
She's being charged, she hasn't been convicted.
Never was a big fan of trial by press.

Far be it from me to pat myself on the back, but after a quick look back at my twitter account, I called this.....

Just read that the PA Supreme Court has temporarily suspended Kane's license to practice law.
She has to step down now, right?
Here's the story with links from PoliticsPA
The State Supreme Court has suspended Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s law license.
The suspension is temporary but it does raise questions about whether it makes Kane ineligible for her office.
Article IV, Section 5 of the Pennsylvania Constitution states that: “No person shall be eligible to the office of Attorney General except a member of the bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.”
Nevertheless the Court made sure to note in its short opinion that it was not removing Kane from office.
The full order is presented below:
PER CURIAM:
AND NOW, this 21st day of September, 2015, upon consideration of the responses to a Rule to Show Cause why Kathleen Granahan Kane should not be placed on temporary suspension, the Rule is made absolute; Respondent Kathleen Granahan Kane is placed on temporary suspension; and, to the extent applicable, she shall comply with all the provisions of Pa.R.D.E. 217.
Respondent’s rights to petition for dissolution or amendment of this order pursuant to Pa.R.D.E. 208(f)(4), and to request accelerated disposition of charges underlying this order pursuant to Pa.R.D.E. 208(f)(6), are specifically preserved.
This order should not be construed as removing Respondent from elected office and is limited to the temporary suspension of her license to practice law.

Evidently she can continue in office even though her license is suspended....she just can't actually practice law or do anything "lawerly" before a court.
The honorable thing would be to resign.
The honorable thing for the Legislature to do would be to pass a bill of Impeachmen post haste.

Way early in the process, but the State Senate is looking atremoving Kane from office.
The Pennsylvania State Senate will be looking into ways to remove Attorney General Kathleen Kane from office.
According to Karen Langley of the Post-Gazette, a bipartisan special committee will be formed to explore the upper chamber’s options as stated in Article 6 Section 7 of the State Constitution.
This option was first mentioned last month as a possible route to remove Kane without using the formal impeachment process. It would also allow the State Senate and the Governor to bypass the State House.
Apparently, this initiative was first revealed by State Sen. John Rafferty when he told a group of Berks County Republicans last night. Undoubtedly, Senate leaders won’t be happy about that as Rafferty is running to replace Kane and the body seems to want this to be a bipartisan endeavor.
Kane, of course, is facing nine criminal charges and her law license has already been suspended.
