The GOP is trying to suggest that this expansive offering of candidates is a result of their efforts to broaden the scope of the party. You know, to claim that the Republican Party is the all inclusive "big tent" party while the Democrats are mired in the past with select establishment candidates. Well, except for Bernie . . . But he's a Socialist.

The GOP may suggest that, but the overwhelming number of it's candidates are clustered into a very narrow part of the political spectrum.
The "big tent" on climate change views, for instance seems to run the gambit from "I don't belive in it" to "I really don't believe in it".
