He Hires the Best People

Rex Tillerson just got the ax.  I believe that brings us up to about 60 people in this administration that have resigned or got canned.  I'm thinking that could be some kind of record.

The Trump effect.
Everyone who works for him ends up unceremoniously dumped, with their reputations ruined.

Re: He Hires the Best People

Tillerson was certainly correct with his early assessment of Trump.

Sounds kind of like a move someone like Putin would make.

Yeah, this guy due to some kind of financial shenanigans that did not allow him to get a required security clearance. From his job description, he was pretty much a bag carrier and gofer. Don’t feel too bad for him though . . . He was quickly re-hired by Trump’s 2020 campaign team.

President Trump’s personal assistant was fired — escorted from the White House without being allowed to get his coat — and promptly placed on Trump’s campaign team, according to reports.

John McEntee was dismissed after being denied a security clearance due to financial problems including issues with online gambling and tax problems the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

But the faithful Trump aide didn’t go far as he was immediately hired by the President’s reelection campaign team.

McEntee worked with Trump from the earliest days of his presidential bid, joining the campaign team in 2015.

His exit comes amid a turbulent string of departures including Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, economic czar Gary Cohn and White House communications director Hope Hicks, also a long-serving staffer.

McEntee managed to keep a low profile in a campaign and White House often embroiled in controversy.

The 27-year-old former University of Connecticut quarterback is more widely known for a viral YouTube trick throw video than his work with Trump.

But inside the West Wing, McEntee was a common presence, serving as Trump’s body man.

He made sure Trump had markers with him while travelling in order to sign autographs, delivered messages to him while at the White House and even set clocks during daylight savings time, according to the Journal.

He was often the first person to greet the President in the morning and saw his stature rise after longtime Trump security guard Keith Schiller left last fall.

“With Keith’s departure, Johnny is clearly playing a larger role. He is someone who has earned the trust of the president and is a top-notch professional, Sean Spicer, former White House press secretary, told Politico in October.

His swift departure comes amid a series of security clearance issues in the White House.

A number of White House staffers have been let go or reassigned as chief of staff John Kelly tightened security measures following staff secretary Rob Porter’s resignation amid domestic abuse allegations.

Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner’s interim clearance was downgraded during the fallout.

Trump’s presidential campaign issued a statement Tuesday morning announcing McEntee will act as a senior adviser for campaign operations.

The 2020 reelection campaign team includes newly appointed manager Brad Parscale, who ran the social media wing last time around.

Re: He Hires the Best People

I have nothing against Dr. Jackson. He was set up to fail and be humiliated by Donald Trump.
The US has been at war for about 17 years.
The VA has 377,000 employees.
In other words, it's a huge organization with a large and important mission.
If you want a guy to lead the VA, you interview, look at qualifications & experience, and vet to look for disqualifying information.
You do NOT just pick a guy because he said nice things about you after your physical.
This President is in way over his head.

Trump paves way for Ronny Jackson to withdraw as VA nominee

President Trump acknowledged Tuesday that his pick to head the Veterans Affairs Department, Dr. Ronny Jackson, has an "experience problem," adding that, if he were Jackson, he would pull his name from the running, but said that it's up to him to decide.

Why it matters: Jackson has come under intense scrutiny ahead of his recently postponed confirmation hearing to lead VA, as allegations of improper conduct and growing concerns about the physician's ability to lead the agency continue to swirl. And while Trump later said he would stand behind Jackson in whatever he decides, his comments have essentially provided Jackson with an easy way out of the nomination.

Ronny is the latest person to get thrown under the Trump Bus.
