I don't know about the fool thing, but the R-tribers especially now with Trump want to look to blame the D-tribe for things that have been going on for years and were even worse then. No one, either Democrats or Republicans want open borders with no restrictions. The D-tribe however looks for ways for those who have arrived and been here for years to become permanant residents for sure. As far as illegals arriving here, the Bush record is worse than Obama. Certainly if you want to assign blame, at least acknowledge that BOTH R and D administrations have had the same issue. Let's at least get the facts straight when you start to point fingers ! I know that currently "facts" are a hard thing to come by, but let's give it a try.

The Trumpers have a profound fear and hatred of the other.
And a binary world view. In their minds, anything short of the wall, and a Muslim ban is somehow having no border at all.
