Bears fall in 2-0 series hole

The Hershey Bears dropped Game 2 of the Calder Cup Finals to Lake Erie by a 5-3 score on Friday night and now trail the championship series 2-0. The Hershey Bears are no strangers to having to come from behind this postseason after trailing Portland and Wilkes-Barre in rounds 1 and 2, respectively. But they’ve never trailed by more than a game, until now.Lake Erie played like a team possessed early on Friday night and then held on down the stretch, handing the Bears a 5-3 loss in Game 2 of the Calder Cup Finals at Giant Center.

The Monsters now have a a 2-0 lead in the series, which returns to Cleveland for game 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary). The Bears, down 4-1 late in the game, mounted a furious comeback that fell just short.Liam O’Brien tallied the final Hershey goal, cutting the lead to one after taking a beautiful backhand pass from Aaron Ness and beating Anton Forsberg to cut Lake Erie’s lead to 4-3. But Daniel Zaar added an empty net goal with 61 second to go to seal the victory for the visitors.

If Hershey is going to come back from this two-game deficit in the series, they are going to have to be more consistent in their quest to solve Forsberg, who has been absolutely stellar this post-season, improving to 7-0 with the victory.
