For what it's worth, I would like to see Hillary do a big press conference. I've watched two Hillary "call-in" interviews in the last week. One with Chuck Todd and one with Chris Hayes. And while they were honestly good interviews that weren't filled with softball questions, as I watched there were a lot of follow-up questions that I wanted those two to ask that either they didn't think to ask or just didn't have time to ask.

I get that the Hillary campaign is scared of having to answer questions from unfriendly outlets but more importantly she needs to improve her "untrustworthy" numbers and the best way to do that is to show some authenticity and honesty in front of the press corps.

One of the talking heads this morning said something pretty insightful. They said Hillary is running like she's not trying to lose the race. She should be running like she wants to win. To do that, she needs to take her lumps, get all of these issues out of the way the best she can, and compete as fiercely as Trump is doing right now.

I think your third paragraph, where you mentioned she is running "not to lose the race" is why she hasn't held a press conference.  I'm sure her people are telling her that her "untrustworthy" numbers are bad, but they probably think that it isn't bad enough to lose the election and they can still win with the numbers as bad as they are.  They probably think the Dems who consider "untrustworthy" will more than likely vote for her anyway and there isn't anything they can do to win over the R's and independents who consider her "untrustworthy".  Therefore, why bother holding the press conference if there isn't much to gain.

Let me throw this out there.....

Some recent polls have included Libertarian and Green candidates. Gary Johnson, the Lib is polling at 5% and the Green candidate is polling at 3%.

There's this idea that this conservative lawyer named David French will be recruited by Bill Kristol and the #NeverTrump crew and jump into the race.

If the profile of the race stays as it is, with Trump being a blowhard and Clinton being cautious, I think we see the 3rd party candidates eat into both Trump's and Clinton's numbers because let's face it, there are a lot of people who do not like Clinton or Trump.

If Hillary wants to get those independents and folks who are on the edges of politics (and who will feel motivated to go out and vote for her) she needs to give those people a reason.

Tactics MIGHT say she is doing the right thing right now, but IF she uses the "safe tactics" after the nomination then that is another thing. That would be a horrible mistake. I expect we will see and hear a LOT from her once the convention is over.
